When I decided to stage this performance, the most important thing for me was not to illustrate the very well known image of Don Quixote, but to penetrate its interior world: a poetic and absurd world, full of magic and madness.
I wanted to have a new vision of Don Quixote beyond the stereotypes, in order to experiment without preconceived ideas.
Choosing a woman to interpret this character enabled me to free myself from the image that we have become accustomed to over the centuries, to explore a place to which only the insane and the children have access: a single universe, where the mills can be transformed into giants and the inns into castles.
Presentation :
The play recounts the story of Don Quixote, bringing to life the strong moments of the novel. Inspired by the original text, we created a universe where the laughter and the madness are expressed with complete freedom. The unexpected interpretation of the role of Don Quixote, explored in the grotesque style, made it a spectacle both delirious and truly dynamic.
Adaptation of the text and staging: Almudena RUIZ
Choreography: Cindy PICOT
